Welcome from Dean Eastman
This is a great time to be associated with the Spears School of Business. Many exciting things lay before us and the school’s best days are ahead of us. Of course, Dean Eugene Swearingen was saying the same 50 years ago!
The year 1964 was special because it was a dual celebration year for what was then known as the College of Business. Not only was it the golden anniversary of the establishment of the college in 1914 but it was also the groundbreaking for the new Business Administration Building, which would be completed two years later and still serves today as the home of the Spears School.
We are currently in the planning stages for another dual celebration. In 2014, the school is celebrating its 100th anniversary and we are also looking forward to breaking ground on a new state-of-the-art business building to house the Spears School of Business.
These events are meaningful because they mark the confluence of the past, present and future. We want to celebrate our past as we embrace the future. We hope that many from the past – students, faculty and staff – will re-engage with us as we mark the beginning of a new century in high quality, engaging and accessible business education.
Please join us throughout 2014 as the Spears School and Oklahoma State University celebrate our centennial and ground-breaking events.
